Praia de Santa Monica (Curralinho)

Praia de Santa Monica, or Curralinho Beach, situated on the southwestern coast of Boa Vista in Cape Verde, is a pristine and captivating beach renowned for its sheer natural beauty and unspoiled landscapes. Widely regarded as one of the most stunning beaches in Cape Verde, Praia de Santa Monica enchants visitors with its vast stretches of golden sand, turquoise waters, and a sense of tranquility that is second to none.

As you approach Praia de Santa Monica, you’ll be greeted by a sight that is nothing short of breathtaking. The beach unfolds before you, boasting a seemingly endless expanse of soft, powdery sand that stretches for approximately 18 kilometers (11 miles). The fine-grained golden sand is a paradise for sun seekers, offering ample space to relax, sunbathe, and enjoy the warmth of the Cape Verdean sun.

The azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean gently caress the shore, creating a mesmerizing contrast against the golden sands. The waves are relatively calm, making Praia de Santa Monica a perfect destination for swimming and other water activities. However, it’s important to be mindful of the currents and pay attention to any safety guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

One of the defining features of Praia de Santa Monica is its pristine and untouched nature. The beach remains relatively undeveloped, with no major resorts or commercial establishments directly lining its shores. This absence of large-scale tourism infrastructure contributes to the beach’s unspoiled beauty, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the raw and natural surroundings.

Praia de Santa Monica is an ideal destination for those seeking solitude and a sense of seclusion. Due to its remote location, the beach often remains uncrowded, giving you the opportunity to find your own peaceful spot and truly connect with nature. Whether you take leisurely walks along the shore, enjoy a quiet picnic, or simply listen to the gentle sounds of the waves, the beach provides a serene escape from the busyness of everyday life.

The landscape surrounding Praia de Santa Monica is characterized by its rugged and captivating beauty. The beach is backed by impressive sand dunes, some reaching heights of up to 50 meters (164 feet). These dunes add a sense of drama and mystique to the area, providing opportunities for exploration and breathtaking panoramic views.
